Sloppy
Sloppy mess, but we wanted to do a little fishing before it warms up and rains for the next week. Today was the only nice day, until the rain comes again. I managed to catch a nice 17" burbot. We kept three more between 10" and 14".
Next
The next day we went to Lake Mary Ronan. The perch were small but we manage to catch a few hogs.
Montana
We went on a short trip to Montana. It was over the long weekend. So the ice had gotten pounded hard. This made fishing slow, but we did managed to catch a few nice perch. We ice hopped from lake to lake, from Upper Thomson to Smith. The ice was about 7" thick and slushy from all the snow. Tom caught one of the elusive perch on Smith and I caught a small pike.
Pole
Tom wanted to make a pole, like mine. His is a little longer and not so girly. He floated finger nail polish on water, swirled the colors, then dipped the grips. This turned out nicely. Now to try it out...
Evening
We decided to do a little evening fishing for burbot. We haven't gone out for a while and itching to do some fishing. It's been snowing for over a week and 10 of snow on the ground. It's been below freezing during the day and night, so the lake wasn't too slushy. Our fishing spot was a hard trudge for the person pulling the sled thought the deep snow, but Tom managed to get us out to a spot. The ice was a good seven inches thick. We kept four burbot, enough for supper.
